  1. Add Transmission Fluid: 2006-2010 Ford Explorer. Our research indicates that your vehicle does not have a transmission fluid dipstick. These types of transmissions are designed to be maintenance free. In order to check the transmission fluid, your vehicle likely has check valve on the bottom of the transmission on the bottom of your car.

I was leaving a side street, merging into traffic and as I was changing lanes and accelerating into busy traffic the vehicle just sat there with the engine revving up. The transmission wouldn't engage and then it slammed into gear so hard that it felt like I was rear ended and there was a loud bang. In my opinion, this is a definite risk to our personal safety because if you turn across traffic, change lanes, merge or attempt to avoid obstacles; you have no idea when the transmission will fail making it impossible to safely operate this vehicle. It is a major safety issue - please hold Ford accountable before someone gets killed. Thank you. Raspberry pi citrix receiver install.

The rpms increased and the acceleration decreased. The failure occurred several times. There were no failure codes present when the failure occurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 130,000.

2006 Ford Explorer is a lemon. Thousand of problems across the nation. Take one to a garage and the mechanics tell you which problem you have before you tell them, one of three. Transmission failures, radiator replacement every 30000 miles and bad wheel bearing causing tires to come off during driving. Lucky for me only two encountered so far. Transmission failure. Getting on interstate and stalling in traffic is a danger to my family and other members of the motoring public. Average cost for transmission repairs are 2500. 00 to 4000. 00. Ford should have recalled these vehicles for safety issues.

I have a 2006 Ford Explorer v-8 limited with the six speed transmission. The transmission totally failed with under 1,000 miles. It lurched, bucked, high revved and failed to engage, then suddenly engaged and eventually would not drive. The transmission was replaced by Ford. 13,000 miles later the transmission lurches and bucks the card forward. When going from second to first, it pops back into second, then into first again. If not for the foot on the brake the car could lunge forward and cause an accident. I must be careful not to pull up too close to anything when stopping. Ford continued to recalibrate the transmission three more times to no avail and on the fourth and final repair attempt they stated they would do nothing further to repair or replace the transmission.
